A woman missed her connecting flight because she was reprimanded by a pilot for wearing a t-shirt protesting the government debate on female reproductive rights.

The unidentified woman, who was coming back from a pro-choice conference, had just landed in Washington D.C. on an American Airlines flight when the stewardess told her that the captain needed to speak to her because 'the shirt I was wearing was offensive'.

The shirt in question read: 'If I wanted the government in my womb, I'd f*** a senator'.

This isn't the first appearance of the slogan, as Oklahoma state senator Judy McIntyle made headlines for protesting at a pro-choice rally in March with a poster sporting the sentiment. 

The issue of reproductive rights has been at the heart of a national debate on health care, raising issues about national coverage of contraception and abortion rights.
