Dear Seniors and Veterans of Mudra family,

For last 1.5 year I am doing trading thru sharekhan.
My only source of income is share trading.
I have to file my ITR for the first time and I have several confusions regarding how to show profit/loss.

I will be thankful to recevie help on my following doubt:-

In sharekhan's scrip wise summary we can check only the quantity and average price of shares purchased and sold during a financial year. There is no information of the date of purchanse and sale.
Due to unavailability of date information I cannot check how many shares I hold for 12 months and how many I sold within 12 months.

Lets say I purchased 100 shares of X company in 2008 and I sold 50 shares in the same financial (2008-09) year, and the remaining 50 shares are carried forward to next financial year(2009-10). Now again in year 2009-10 I purchased 200 more shares of X company (on different dates). Now this makes my total quantity of shares to be 250. Now I sold all 250 shares in the same financial year (2009-10).
My scrip wise summary for 2009-10 shows that I have purchansed 200 shares and sold 250 shares on certain average price. Now my doubt is how to check whether the 50 shares (that were carried from the year 2008-09 to 2009-10 ) will be exempted from capital gain tax or not.

Thanks in anticipation.

Best Regards,
Praveen Pant

hey your broker must be paying the taxes if you have signed any such option with him. Please check whether they will do it for you.
