European shares closed mixed on Wednesday as concerns over a protracted U.S.-China trade war again worried investors, while a drop in the pound helped London’s blue-chip index outperform. The pan-European STOXX 600 index fell 0.08%.The DAX gained 0.21% and the FTSE 100 rose 0.07%. The CAC 40 lost 0.12%.
U S Stocks pulled back on Wednesday morning since trade worries increased and as investors brace for minutes from the Federal Reserve’s most recent policy meeting. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 35%. The S&P 500 slipped 0.29%, with the tech sector sliding 0.2%. The Nasdaq Composite declined by 0.42%.
U.S. stocks dipped on Wednesday as reports that Washington could impose restrictions on another Chinese technology company further inflamed trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 100.72 points, or 0.39%, to 25,776.61 and the S&P 500 index fell 8.09 points, or 0.28%, to 2,856.27. The Nasdaq Composite Index slipped 34.88 points, or 0.45%, to 7,750.84.
Oil prices fell sharply Wednesday after U.S. oil inventories rose to their highest level since July 2017 and domestic oil production neared a record, sparking fears of another supply glut. Brent crude futures settled at $70.99 a barrel, dropping $1.19, 1.7%. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures ended $1.71, or 2.7%, lower at $61.42 a barrel.
Asia markets declined in today morning trade as investors worried about the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China. The Shanghai Composite is off 0.66% while the Hang Seng is down 124%. The Nikkei 225 is trading down 0.82%. The Kospi is down 3.82%. The ASX 200 is off 0.33%.
