European stocks  generally closed higher on  Friday despite the U.S. hiking duties on $200 billion worth of Chinese products. The STOXX 600 index gained 0.32%. The DAX gained 0.72% and the CAC 40 rose 0.27%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.06%.

The major U.S. stock indexes swooned more than 1% before rebounding from session lows, first on encouraging comments from Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and then Trump’s remarks that his relationship with President Xi remained strong. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 114.01 points, or 0.44%, to end at 25,942.37, recovering from a deficit of more than 350 points. The S&P 500 index  gained 10.68 points, or 0.37%, to 2,881.40, while the Nasdaq Composite Index   climbed 6.35 points, or 0.08%, to 7,916.94.

Oil put in a mixed performance Friday, with the U.S. benchmark edging lower, with worries over an escalating trade fight between Washington and Beijing limiting upside.West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery fell 4 cents, or 0.1%, to settle at $61.66 a barrel on Friday. The contract fell 0.5% for the week, marking its third straight weekly decline. Global benchmark July Brent crude rose 23 cents, or 0.4%, to end at $70.62 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. That wasn’t enough to turn Brent higher for the week, ending 0.3% loweR.

American stock indexes are set for a rough start to Monday, futures contracts showed. Dow futures are down more than 264.00points as of 8:22 p.m. ET Sunday, implying a decline of more than 234.37points for the index at its Monday open. S&P 500 and  Nasdaq futures are similarly pointing to a negative start with a loss of 95.75 points ad 31.00 points respectivly.

Asian stocks fall today morning as U.S.-China seen deadlocked in trade talks. Mainland Chinese shares decline in early trade.  The Shanghai Composite loose 0.67%. The Nikkei is down 0.50%. The Kospi is off  0.88%. The ASX 200 is down 0.37%.  Markets in Hong Kong are closed on today for a holiday.

Shares were mostly lower in Asia on today after trade talks between the U.S. and China wrapped up Friday without an agreement. Shares dropped more than 1.21% in Shanghai, to 2,903.71. The Nikkei 225 index lost 0.72% to 21,191.28 and theASX 200 declined 0.21% to 6,267.60 The  Kospi fell 1.38% to 2,079.01. Hong Kong’s markets are closed for a holiday.

European shares extended losses early on toay from the biggest weekly slump this year as the U.S.-China standoff quelled hopes that the two largest economies will be able to resolve their trade dispute anytime soon. The STOXX 600 index fell 0.54%. The DAX is down 0.79% while France's CAC 40 is off 0.53% and London's FTSE 100 is lower by 0.04%.

U.S. equity futures slumped as investors awaited counter measures promised by China after America escalated their trade war last week. Dow futures are down more than 283 points as of 5:12 a.m. ET Monday, implying a decline of more than 253.37 points for the index at the open. S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures are similarly negative of  34.50 and 120.25 points respectively.

Global equities fell on today after their worst week of 2019, as hopes of an imminent U.S.-China trade deal were crushed and neither side showed a willingness to budge, raising fears of a fresh round of tit-for-tat tariffs. U.S. equity futures slumped and shares in Europe and Asia dropped. The trade war hit emerging market stocks. The yuan tumbled and Treasuries rallied. In commodities, oil futures rose on increasing concerns about supply disruptions in the crucial producing region of the Middle East.

Wall Street’s main indexes have dived more than  2% on today morning after Beijing announced plans to retaliate with tariffs on U.S. goods, raising fears that another round of tit-for-tat measures could push the U.S. economy toward recession. The Dow Jones Industrial Average  fell 588 points, or 2.39%, to 25,353.90, while the S&P 500 index dropped 70.04 points, or 2.1%, to 2,810.96. The Nasdaq Composite Index  slid 256.571points, or 3.25%, to 7,662.28.
