Vadodara bus terminal with 'AIRPORT-Like' FEEL & FEATURES
1- Narendra Modi inaugurated an 'airport-like' bus terminal in Vadodara.
2- (AIRPORT-LIKE FACILITIES) Touted to be country's first international standard bus terminal - the central bus depot of Vadodara - designed on the theme of banyan tree is set to give a new identity to the city. The purpose was to provide airport-like facilities to the thousands of the passengers who travel by state transport buses, Modi said.
3- (ELECTRONIC SCROLLING SYSTEM) Rechristened as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Central Bus Station, the bus terminal has electronic scrolling system to provide arrival and departure timings of buses to commuters.
4- (ENTRY AND EXIT) Visitors will be allowed only till the entry and exit gates of this bus terminal whose entry has been divided into three parts - one each for buses, pedestrians and for private vehicles.
5- (OTHER AMENITIES) The GSRTC zone will have 35 bays including five for alighting from buses, 20 for boarding and 10 that will be kept idle.
6- (DELUXE WAITING HALL) Apart from an air-conditioned deluxe waiting hall and waiting lounge, the GSRTC portion will have dormitories for GSRTC crew and passengers.
7- (PUBLIC-PRIVATE) The GSRTC Bus Station has been constructed under Public-Private Partnership at the cost of Rs 110 crore.
8- (SPREAD OVER 2,039 SQ MT) The new bus terminal is spread over 2,039 sq mt and has a supermarket, shopping mall, multiplex, restaurant and food court, commercial offices, and a budget hotel on the premises.
10- (TWO SKY WALKS ALSO PROPOSED) Two sky walks have also been proposed between the bus station with railway station and city bus station.
11- (SCIPL TO MAINTAIN PREMISES) The project developed under PPP model has been executed by Sphere Cube Infrastructure Private Limited (SCIPL), said Bindiya Shah, joint managing director of SCIPL, which will maintain the premises for the next 31 years.
12- (SEPARATE TOILET FOR HANDICAPPED PERSONS) To provide amenities to passengers, wheel chair and separate toilet for handicapped persons have been provided at the terminal which is equipped with sign boards providing east information to passengers, help desk for passengers, there will be round the clock housekeeping and security services with CCTV cameras and RO filtered drinking water facility,' she said.
13- (ARTISTIC LOOK) Students from M S University's Faculty of Fine Arts have contributed in providing artistic look to the terminal where photographs and paintings of historical monuments of the city have been displayed.
14- (NO OUTLET FOR SELLING CIGARETTES) There will not be a single outlet leased out in the premises for selling cigarettes, bidis or tobacco products.
15- (WORLD CLASS) Modi also said that six to eight 'world-class' bus stations will be constructed across the state in the near future.
