Super cool, Boss

Jayesh Mota has reproduced the exact report (Source Moneycontrol, a unit of CNBC)of 12.08PM IST. This money control report is after Bharti's slipping back to its original rate.

If the report was correct, then why could Bharti not hold on to the 4% jump? It slipped back from where it shot up.

Perhaps the fine print was not disclosed by either CNBC or Moneycontrol.

New Thread: SCENES FROM INDIAN VILLAGES.

Inderpal Singh at 05:43 PM - May 06, 2011 ( )

It is, in their own words, "something more than a photo but less than a video"
Two artists have created a new way to to record your special moments - pictures with movement. The "cinemagraphs" look like still photos but actually feature a subtle area of movement designed to grab your eye and keep you looking. The effect is slightly eerie - but utterly captivating.

Hair-raising: Cinemagraphs may look like stills, but they feature a subtle area of movement designed to grab your eye. These animated photos are the work of Jamie Beck (pictured) and her fellow artist Kevin Burg

Turning a page: The cinemagraphs work by using GIFs, a type of picture format similar to a JPEG which has been around since the invention of home computers but has come into its own with broadband internet

In one shot of a crowded square, bodies are frozen in time, but one man quietly turns the pages of his newspaper.Another photo of a restaurant terrace is brought to life by the reflection of a taxi going past in the window.

And a picture of photographer Jamie Beck, one of the two behind the project, leaps off the screen when her hair starts to blow in a breeze.Miss Beck has worked with motion graphics artist Kevin Burg to make the cinemagraphs by using GIFs, a type of picture format similar to a JPEG which has been around since the invention of home computers.

Only now with broadband internet are they bringing it to life with a startling effect. "Our cinemagraphs are a way of adding motion to a still image" Miss Beck said.

Eerie effect: Cinemagraphs are calming to watch as only one area moves - and they are silent

Not as simple as they look: The more complex animated photos take the artists an entire day to pull together.

Same place, same pose... but two very different stories

By Polly Dunbar
Last updated at 5:02 AM on 1st May 2011

The echoes of a Royal wedding from an earlier era are difficult to ignore.

The backdrop is the same: the opulent red-and-gold decor of the grand Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. And the mischievous smiles on the faces of some of the bridesmaids and page boys – and endearingly bewildered expressions on the others – are strikingly similar.

But, 30 years after the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, the official wedding picture of Prince William and Kate Middleton also reflects the differences between the two couples' relationships.

Happy: William and Kate surrounded by, clockwise bottom right, The Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones, Miss Eliza Lopes, Miss Grace van Cutsem, Lady Louise Windsor, Master Tom Pettifer, Master William Lowther-Pinkerton

The photograph of Charles and Diana, taken by Patrick Lichfield, seemed to capture a moment of spontaneous informality, with the wedding party collapsing in a fit of giggles. But, as we now know, the warmth was not reflected in the marriage itself.

By contrast, Kate and William's picture, by photographer Hugo Burnand, appears more formal, despite little Tom Pettifer's insistence on leaning in as close to the bride as possible.

Anna Hazare: From driver to driving force against corruption

When an Army jeep driver returned to this village after surviving strafing by enemy planes, being the driving force behind a mammoth anti-corruption campaign was not on his agenda.

But 72-year old Kisan Baburao Hazare, famously known as Anna Hazare, into the third day of his fast unto death for a stronger anti-corruption law, has become the most visible face of the movement that is garnering growing support.

Hazare, who lives in a small room attached to the Yadavbaba temple in this village, has already tasted success, with Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar quitting the Group of Ministers on corruption after the Gandhian called him corrupt.

After pledging to serve society in his second lease of life, Hazare has over the last three decades brought Maharashtra’s political establishment to its knees, leading to resignation of ministers in both Shiv Sena-BJP and Congress-NCP governments.

During his days in the Army in the 1960s as a truck driver, he spent a lot of time reading about Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave.

Hazare returned to Ralegan Siddhi village in 1975, after seeking voluntary retirement from the Army and was faced with a village in the grip of drought, poverty, crimes and alcoholism. He inspired villagers to join him in building canals and bunds to hold rainwater which increased irrigation possibilities in the village.

The only family members he has are two married sisters. One lives in Mumbai and another in Sangamner in Ahmednagar district. His mother Laxmibai died in 2002.

After Mahatma Gandhi, Hazare is among those who have used hunger strike as a potent weapon. In 1995, Hazare's fast led to exit of two state Cabinet Ministers, labelled corrupt by the Gandhian and the Sena-BJP government was forced to drop them.

Hazare did not spare the Congress-NCP regime either and in 2003, went on hunger strike against four ministers, Sureshdada Jain, Nawab Malik, Vijaykumar Gavit and Padamsinh Patiln, alleging they indulged in massive corruption.

He also initiated a campaign for a legislation on the right to information. Hazare's persistent attack on those corrupt also earned him foes. In 2009, two persons arrested for killing Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar said there was a contract given out to kill the Magsaysay Award winner.

However, there are also cases of foes-turned-friends as seen by Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray announcing his support for Hazare's hunger strike at Delhi. Not long ago, it was the same Thackeray who had taunted Hazare as 'Gandhi with a crooked face'.
