New Thread: IN 2014 LET US RESOLUTE

Chintan Savla at 10:33 AM - Dec 31, 2013 ( )

New Year is round the corner. For most of us it is time to take new resolutions and start chasing goals only to flame out soon. Why?

We are doing it wrong. We are just chasing dreams. We never cared to define a process to achieve the goal. Discipline or will power is not going to work here. Committing to the process is what makes the difference.

While cooking, we need to follow a recipe. Even for making a cup of coffee, there are certain well defined steps to be followed. In the beginning we may not get the desired results but still we need to finish the process. Stopping the process half way is not going to give us any results.

Coming to trading, we do not need level 3 data, costly computers or the latest version of charting software to trade successfully. These are all excuses we find to procrastinate and delay taking action. We are afraid of failure. Preparations to get something done should end somewhere. It is high time that we stop searching and start doing.

First step is to select a suitable method and commit to it. Before risking money in the market ensure the selected method is working well. There are so many methods in public domain that we can use as a template to develop our own thing. Do not waste your hard earned money unless you trust the structure and tactics completely. Once you select the method trust it and commit to it completely.

Then eliminate all the unwanted things and stay out from distractions. Trading forums and chartrooms are doing more harm than good. These can be helpful in acquiring some basic knowledge at the initial stages but becomes a distraction later. Too much of conflicting information is too bad for our trading. So called discussions will drain our emotional capital.

Knowing something is not enough. We must act on it. It is not a secret that 90% of the people you find on our trading forums have not executed a single trade in their life time. They will read the trade and will never trade the trade. Remember trading is a skill you can learn only by doing. Just start doing it. There will be road blocks and hindrances. Don’t worry about it. We can deal with it as we move along.

As traders we must always be concerned about two things, Time and Capital. Capital includes our emotional capital. Are we making efficient use of our time and capital? We are wasting too much of time on things that make little difference. Still we are searching for new tactics and debating unrelated topics at the forums wasting time and emotional capital.

Now let us focus on the execution. Trading consistency always follows execution consistency. Let 2014 be the “Year of Trading Consistency”.Let us commit to the process. Let us follow the recipe. Let us take massive action to achieve this goal.

Commit, Eliminate and Act

New Thread: Earn daily in your choice of stock/index.

Chintan Savla at 11:44 AM - Dec 23, 2013 ( )

Hello Firends,

As a payback initiative to mudraa, i would like to bring across a simple trading strategy in which you can trade any liquid stock or index of your choice when you do not study eod charts or if you study eod charts and your study is wrong with respect to the direction of the next day trend of the stock/index.i.e. today through your eod study,by applying whatever indicators, moving averages, etc….,you feel that nifty might go down tomorrow. But in this strategy most of the times you would not get any signal to sell tomorrow. What I do is study EOD charts but do not take a firm view for the next day.I just try to be with the overall intra day trend on any given day.

The whole purpose is to make each and every trader self-reliant in taking trading decisions and not to rely and “BEG” on the so called call providers who only turn up when their call is in profit and don’t update when their call is in loss. It is a universal rule that if we rely on someone for something you are bound to be taken advantage of……

Moving forward, also I would suggest you to trade Nifty, Bank Nifty and LIX index stocks through this strategy. The best would be of course nifty and then bank nifty.

The list of LIX stocks can be viewed at:-http://www.nseindia.com/products/content/equities/indices/LIX_15.htm

I generally refer many trading websites/blogs, etc…so it is possible that you might found it somewhere else too and hence I am not at all taking any credit for this.

Here is the setup:-

1)      Stocks/Index trading in a Positive or Negative crossover of EMA 50 and EMA 100 on intraday 5 min chart.(most of the times each and every scrip would be either trading negative or positive)

2)      14 period RSI.

3)      We will buy the stock/index if EMA 50 > EMA 100 and RSI after dipping below 50 levels again surges above 50 levels and price would have at least touched 50 or 100 EMA.Buy would be above the high of the candle whose RSI is more than 50.You can have a risk reward of 1:2 in any trade. You can decide the SL as previous swing low and hence according the target. But generally if the Stocks/Index is trending well it would go to touch previous high, so would recommend you to trade in minimum two lots.Book profit in one when we even break even level.

4)      Reverse for short.

5)      Trade would be initiated after 10 am and no new trade after 3.Of course you can wait to book profits till 3.25 in you already opened positions .

6)      Better to avoid on big announcement days like RBI policy.

Charts are attached for your reference.

You can bend any rule, sparing the basic setup and trade according to your trading style. I would suggest options trading for newbies and those who want to generate more return on capital invested. But again trading in options involves risk too .Never ever average a losing position, just come out when our SL gets triggered.

The biggest advantage of the strategy is it is purely intraday (of course you can carry over if you have total conviction in the trend of the Stocks/Index) and hence no sleepless nights.

Have a good time with your family member’s after market hours……

I would suggest you all to trade intraday as everyday, we get ample trading opportunities to trade.

Again because of my schedule, sometimes I might not get back to queries on urgent basis, so all who are trading are suggested to keep tight SL’s. Will do my every bit to answer all queries.

Last but not the least BE WISE, STAY WISE ….After all its all your hard earned money so better only you be responsible for any profit/loss from it rather than depending on any one else…..

Healthy discussion welcomed and seniors expected to innovate to make trading a pleasurable experience for all of us.

I am not at all an expert in posting things (my language, charts posting, etc…), so please bare with me…..

Regards and Happy Trading…..

One more observation which I forgot to mention.

Price touching 50 EMA before our action gives a good oppurtunity

But price touching 100 EMA before our action gives the BEST oppurtunity..

Bank Nifty Spot chart of yesterday(i.e.20 th December).Continuing the up trend today. This is what I meant by swing trading position. As our postion was almost 100 points in our favor, if we would booked part profits and carried the rest today ,uptill now,we would have got more than 125 points today too..

Chintan Savla at 03:42 PM - Dec 18, 2013 ( )

Hi everyone ....

Since two days I am watching that call givers dont properly follow up their calls with updates or SL in their respective threads....

Commom guys, there might be people trading having faith on your calls and playing with there hard earned money....

There should be no regrets in admitting that the call has hit the SL....

Infact I urge novice traders to kindly place proper SL in system as days like today and tommorrow where major announcements are expected you can part away with all your trading capital...

Be Wise.....Stay Wise.....

Regards and Happy Trading....

New Thread: NICE INFORMATION FOR F&O PLAYERS

Chintan Savla at 11:42 AM - Nov 25, 2013 ( )

LIX 15 Index is designed to provide exposure to the liquid stocks while making the index easily replicable and tradable. In order to make the index easily replicable and tradable, criteria’s such as minimum turnover ratio and free float market capitalization are applied while selection of stocks. The index constitutes only 15 stocks with maximum weight of single stock capped at 15%.

Market Representation

  • As on July 01, 2013 the index comprised stocks from 9 different industries.
  • The total traded value for the last six months ending June 2013 of all index constituents is approximately 22% of the traded value of all stocks in the Cash Segment and 34% of all the stocks in F&O segment on NSE.

Methodology, Base Date & Value, Criteria for Selection of Stocks

Methodology

LIX 15 Index is computed using free float market capitalisation weighted method, wherein the level of the index reflects the total market value of all the stocks in the index relative to a particular base period. The method also takes into account constituent changes in the index and importantly corporate actions such as stock splits, rights, new issue of shares etc without affecting the index value.

Base Date and Value

LIX 15 Index is online computed and disseminated from July 08, 2013, with base date and base value being January 01, 2009 and 1500 respectively.

Criteria for Selection of Constituent Stocks

The index shall have 15 stocks from the 100 stocks forming part of CNX 100 and are individually eligible in the F&O segment as per the criteria stipulated by SEBI. For inclusion in the index the stock shall have a minimum free float of Rs. 50 billion and have turnover ratio (TRO) greater than 100% in majority of the last 6 months at time of review. The free float shall be average daily free float during the month of review. The turnover ratio shall be computed as under

TRO = Monthly Turnover _______ x 12

Average free float during the month

Capping Criteria

At the time of rebalancing of shares/ change in index constituents/ change in investible weight factors (IWFs), the weightage of the index constituent (where applicable) is capped at 13%. Weightage of such stock may increase up to a maximum of 15% between the rebalancing periods.

Exclusion criteria

The index shall be reviewed on a semi-annual basis. If the stock’s free float market capitalisation is less than Rs.40 billion or TRO is less than 100% in 3 out of 6 months then such stock shall be eligible for exclusion. The stock replacing it shall meet the inclusion criteria mentioned above.

A stock continuing to meet the inclusion criteria may still be excluded if any other stock meeting the inclusion criteria has free float twice that of existing stock in the index. The total number of stocks which shall be replaced in a review shall be restricted to 2. If there are more than 2 stocks eligible for replacement then stock with lower free float market capitalisation shall be replaced first.

SOURCE:-http://www.nseindia.com/products/content/equities/indices/LIX_15.htm

Make sure you read the xls and pdf file on the above mentioned link.

Nice information for F&O players to select high volume stocks for trading as high volume stocks cannot be easily manipulated and also we have a good bid ask rates in both future and options segment avoiding slippage in impact costs.

Happy and profitable trading !!!

New Thread: CAUTION FOR TRADERS USING ONE TRADING SOFTWARE.

Chintan Savla at 12:55 PM - Oct 31, 2013 ( )

HI ALL,

Since a few days I am noticing in various threads that there is diffence in ema , sma values ,difference in prices and time of various crossovers and the colour of the candle among various members using different trading softwares like NEST,SHAREKHAN TT,NSE TAME etc.....

I request all fellow traders to keep atleast two trading softwares handy and than only trade according to their strategy.

This can make a lot of difference in intraday trading where one has small stop loss and small target.

Even if you dont have access to two different charting softwares , atleast make it a point to confirm it with fellow traders in the respective threads...

Regards and Happy Trading,

Chintan ....

Chintan Savla at 05:52 PM - Sep 26, 2013 ( )

BANK NIFTY HAS MADE AN INSIDE CANDLE PATTERN(A DOJI TO BE PRECISE) ON TODAYS DAILY CHARTS.

IT SEEMS TO BE A NICE SWING SET UP FOR NEXT 2 -3 TRADING SESSIONS

LONG ENTRY WOULD BE ABOVE TODAYS HIGH AND SHORT ENTRY BELOW TODAYS LOW.

POSITION CAN BE CARRIED FORWARDED IF TOMMOROWS CLOSE IS ABOVE/BELOW TODAYS HIGH/LOW LEVEL.

PAST INSTANCES OF A INSIDE DOJI HAVE GIVEN GOOD RETURNS FOR BANK NIFTY.

CHARTS LOOK LIKE THESE:-

THIS IS TODYAS CANDLESTICK....

Chintan Savla at 11:18 AM - Sep 11, 2013 ( )

Please understand the purpose behind every instrument available in the markets:-

There are 3 instruments available in the market:- Cash Segment,Futures and Options. Now all these 3 instruments are there in the market with a specific purpose.

Basic Purpose of Cash segment:- Give a platform to investors to do investment. Now doing trading in such investments is risky as it is not solving the purpose.

Basic purpose of Futures segment:- Hedging and Speculation.Doing investment here is risky.

Basic purpose of Options :- Hedging and Insurance. Now speculating and investing is highly risky as every option is meant to be zero at the expiry but only ITM options survive this phenomenon !!!
